A MAKEUP ARTIST'S ROLE

COLOR THEORY

Makeup artists are often called to work right before a big event. They see the most stressful, excited, and emotional versions of their clients. Often, they are working under chaotic conditions. But today, we wanted to take some time to create a look that goes from barely there, golden smoky glam, to a bold, raspberry-hued finale. "It sort of says dance rehearsal, then quickly off to happy hour at the jazz club, and then off to dinner and the Opera at 9. There's nothing really new about the concept of it, it's more the attitude in how you're applying these looks, how it all lines up in that exciting moment. No time to go home...you go from place to place. Applying lipstick in a taxi. A quick glance in the mirror. But you've done it so many times, you're really good at it. It's got that 90s New York thing that's hard to find these days. Even in New York."
