FUTURE RETROGRADE

In a monochromatic corner that echoes with the spirit of a bygone decade, Juliana Escobar steps into character as the 1980s supermodel reimagined for a minimalist future. Her stance is sculptural, her presence electric—every image a tribute to the precision and drama of editorial icons like Linda, Janice, or Pat. With a slicked crown of metallic bronze and sleeves that billow like synthesizer soundwaves, she commands the frame in high-waisted leggings and dagger-point stilettos. The attitude is pure gloss, pure power.
The narrative shifts to glamour laced with a modern twist: a plunging halter top in ivory and a gold sarong-skirt sculpt the body into an hourglass ode, punctuated by a chain belt like a rhythmic accent from a disco beat. Here, styling by Maria Jose Salazar nods to classic bombshell allure, while Catijeras' wigs and makeup bring theatrical punctuation—short platinum cuts, charcoal smudged eyes, lips painted with vintage melancholy.
In tight silhouettes that feel poured on like liquid, Juliana channels a sensual geometry. One frame sees her in a rust mesh turtleneck dress and white boots, echoing runway confidence with a hint of nostalgic rebellion. Another, in pewter lycra, reveals a futuristic goddess, with wide hoops grazing her collarbone, her gaze defiant and distant—like she's seen the past and knows what's next.
Each transformation is a character study in visual power play. A soft blonde bob, a skin-toned ruched dress with a terracotta overlay clasped by a circular buckle—these are not just wardrobe choices but era-evoking time stamps. This editorial doesn’t just photograph a woman dressed as a supermodel. It conjures an era, bends it, and lets it radiate in new light.
